Basketball
James Naismith was a Canadian. He invented basketball in 1891. At that time, he was a P. E. teacher at Springfield College , in the U.S.A He invented an indoor game for his students so that they could play it even in bad weather.
Do you know how to score points in the game? Well, just put the ball into the other side’s basket. You can throw the ball into the basket from any part of the court . And you can throw it with one hand or both hands. But you must follow the rules.

could 在此句中不表示过去时态，而是表示委婉请求对方做某事。在这里要用 could 而不用 can ，因为 could 的语气要比 can 委婉得多。 Could you please…? 是一种请求帮助的惯用法。
Do sb. a favor 是非常正式的请求，意思是 help sb. 和 give sb. a hand ，类似的请求还有： Could / Would you … ? Will you (please) … ? 如：
