Spring Festival(春节英语)(转摘)

关于中国的英语演讲稿

The Spring Festival is the most important festival for the Chinese people and is when all family members get together, just like Christmas in the West. All people living away from home go back, becoming the busiest time for

transportation systems of about half a month from the Spring Festival. Airports, railway stations and long-distance bus stations are crowded with home returnees.

The Spring Festival falls on the 1st day of the 1st lunar month, often one month later than the Gregorian calendar. It originated in the Shang Dynasty (c. 1600 BC-c. 1100 BC) from the people's sacrifice to gods and ancestors at the end of an old year and the beginning of a new one.

Strictly speaking, the Spring Festival starts every year in the early days of the 12th lunar month and will last till the mid 1st lunar month of the next year. Of them, the most important days are Spring Festival Eve and the first three days. The Chinese government now stipulates people have seven days off for the Chinese Lunar New Year.

Many customs accompany the Spring Festival. Some are still followed today, but others have weakened.

On the 8th day of the 12th lunar month, many families make laba porridge, a delicious kind of porridge made with glutinous rice, millet, seeds of Job's tears, jujube berries, lotus seeds, beans, longan and gingko.

The 23rd day of the 12th lunar month is called Preliminary Eve. At this time, people offer sacrifice to the kitchen god. Now however, most families make delicious food to enjoy themselves.

After the Preliminary Eve, people begin preparing for the coming New Year. This is called "Seeing the New Year in".

Store owners are busy then as everybody goes out to purchase necessities for the New Year. Materials not only include edible oil, rice, flour, chicken, duck, fish and meat, but also fruit, candies and kinds of nuts. What's more, various decorations, new clothes and shoes for the children as well as gifts for the elderly, friends and relatives, are all on the list of purchasing.

Before the New Year comes, the people completely clean the indoors and outdoors of their homes as well as their clothes, bedclothes and all their utensils.

Then people begin decorating their clean rooms featuring an atmosphere of rejoicing and festivity. All the door panels will be pasted with Spring Festival couplets, highlighting Chinese calligraphy with black characters on red pa-pe-r. The content varies from house owners' wishes for a bright future to good luck for the New Year. Also, pictures of the god of doors and wealth will be posted on front doors to ward off evil spirits and welcome peace and abundance. The Chinese character "fu" (meaning blessing or happiness) is a must. The character put on pa-pe-r can be pasted normally or upside down, for in Chinese the "reversed fu" is homophonic with "fu comes", both being pronounced as "fudaole." What's more, two big red lanterns can be raised on both sides of the

front door. Red pa-pe-r-cuttings can be seen on window glass and brightly

colored New Year paintings with auspicious meanings may be put on the wall. People attach great importance to Spring Festival Eve. At that time, all family members eat dinner together. The meal is more luxurious than usual. Dishes such as chicken, fish and bean curd cannot be excluded, for in Chinese, their pronunciations, respectively "ji", "yu" and "doufu," mean auspiciousness, abundance and richness. After the dinner, the whole family will sit together, chatting and watching TV. In recent years, the Spring Festival party broadcast on China Central Television Station (CCTV) is essential entertainment for the Chinese both at home and abroad. According to custom, each family will stay up to see the New Year in.

Waking up on New Year, everybody dresses up. First they extend greetings to their parents. Then each child will get money as a New Year gift, wrapped up in red pa-pe-r. People in northern China will eat jiaozi, or dumplings, for

breakfast, as they think "jiaozi" in sound means "bidding farewell to the old and ushering in the new". Also, the shape of the dumpling is like gold ingot from ancient China. So people eat them and wish for money and treasure.

Southern Chinese eat niangao (New Year cake made of glutinous rice flour) on this occasion, because as a homophone, niangao means "higher and higher, one year after another." The first five days after the Spring Festival are a good time for relatives, friends, and classmates as well as colleagues to exchange greetings, gifts and chat leisurely.

Burning fireworks was once the most typical custom on the Spring Festival. People thought the spluttering sound could help drive away evil spirits. However, such an activity was completely or partially forbidden in big cities once the government took security, noise and pollution factors into

consideration. As a replacement, some buy tapes with firecracker sounds to listen to, some break little balloons to get the sound too, while others buy firecracker handicrafts to hang in the living room.

The lively atmosphere not only fills every household, but permeates to streets and lanes. A series of activities such as lion dancing, dragon lantern dancing, lantern festivals and temple fairs will be held for days. The Spring Festival then comes to an end when the Lantern Festival is finished.

China has 56 ethnic groups. Minorities celebrate their Spring Festival almost the same day as the Han people, and they have different customs.

2what is your Chinese dream?

Chinese dream

Chinese dream was put forward by chairman xi last year in order to direct Chinese to a clear the whole nation, it means increasing the level of every single Chinese , it means realizing the value of lifeThe realization of the whole nation’s dream can not be separated from everybody’s own dream. Only by everyone’s efforts can we make the nationy’s dream come true.

For our young people, we are supposed to have our own dream. What is dream? The famous Chinese economist LangXianPing has ever said that:”Please do not expect too munch about Chinese students, because they don’t have dream. They only want to find a common job to earn money for a house or a car. They only have a target、purpose、or goal. They don’t have dream. Purpose is not dream.

Dream is developed by your warm heart instead of cheating your eyes in the excuse of earning money! A dream is a clear spiritual lighthouse that gives out direction when you do not know what to expect in the days ahead and offers comfort and support when you become doubtful of yourself.

So, it’s time that we took our measures to fight for our Chinese dream!

That’s all. Thank you!

China Dream, with each one of us.

Dream is beautiful, it is the bottom of my heart the most beautiful expectations, so the dream also become our long-held beliefs.

Dream is the sun, it makes people from impetuous to solid, from the hesitation to the firm, and on the road to success.

Dream is powerful, it is the life source of forward momentum; Lofty dreams can inspire a life all potential. Because of this we will go to dream, to grasp the dream, the pursuit of dreams.

Our new president Xi Jinping came up with the dream of the Chinese nation's rejuvenation on December 29, 2012. He said: the Chinese dream is a dream of national strength prosperity and people's happiness. Our people have an ardent love for life. They wish to have better education, more stable jobs, more income, greater social security , better medical and health care, improved housing conditions and better environment, They want their children to grow well, have ideal jobs and lead a more enjoyable life. To meet their desire for a happy life is our mission."

I always ask myself what can I do for our great Chinese dream ? As we all know that the wiser the youths are ,the wiser the nation will be;the wealthier the youths are ,the wealthier the nation will be;the stronger the youths are ,the stronger the nation will be. Here the word wealthy means: enriching our knowledge reserve. As a new generation of youth , every one here shouldering the great historical mission of ma-ki-ng china powerful and strong. You may say that this may exaggerate our role, but I want to say you are wrong. If I am a little screw our great dream may be a multifunction and complex machine. Through this example I just want to say I am very tiny but I am indispensable .

I believe that as long as all of our young people unite together and perform our own functions that study hard in school and work hard after we graduating from university . We must be able to achieve our great dream meanwhile enrich ourselves unwittingly!

My dream, our dream, to improve the Chinese dream. Let us unite together to realize Chinese nation's great rejuvenation to struggle! To you the day of my dreams to realize, is standing at the time of China.

Chinese Tea Culture

Ladies and Gentlemen:

It’s my honor to stand here and make a speech. My topic is “Chinese Tea Culture”.

Do you know the name of the three most famous drinks in the world? They are tea , coffee and cocoa. China is the homeland of tea which has become the national drink. In other words, tea is basically spread out from China. Referring to Chinese tea culture, it has several thousand years of history and can be traced back to the ancient times. Then it was flourished in the Tang dynasty and the Song dynasty.

At first, our ancients found tea make them excited, but they thought that drinking more would be destructive to the morals. As time went by, tea became popular among likeminded people, Confucianism, Taoism, Buddhism and cultivation culture. Until Tang Dynasty, tea culture began taking shape. When it came to Song Dynasty, tea culture became thriving. When people migrated, they would offer tea. When people engaged, they would send tea. When people got married, they would settle tea. Tea became an important part in their daily life.

In china, the main varieties of tea are green tea, black

tea, Oolong tea, scented tea, white tea, yellow tea and dark tea. In the early days, the Chinese boiled their tea leaves with water and other ingredients such as salt and ginger; later they ground the dried leaves to a powder and whipped them up with hot water. It was not until that Ming Dynasty that it became common practice to infuse the loose tea leaves in hot water in teapots, and then to pour the infused liquid into bowls to drink. Nowadays, we make different tea in different particular ways. Over the centuries, China developed an extraordinary tea culture, comparable with the wine culture of the West.

Tea not only has a good flavor but also benefit to our body, so it is loved by many people home and abroad. Different kinds of tea have different function which makes a contribution to our health. For example, the national drink of China-green tea, can dispel the effects of alcohol, clear away summer-heat, refresh yourself and whiten your skin. The second largest kind of tea-black tea, can warm your stomach, be good for your heart and make your bones stronger. Dark tea can refresh you in the morning, reduce your blood press and help lose weight. Oolong Tea is good for your body building and dieting. In all, tea have great medicinal value,

anti-cancer, lowering blood pressure, improving eyesight and restraining disease, reducing stress and so on.

Tea culture and its development reflect not only diet culture, but also Chinese spiritual features.

China is a country with a time-honored civilization and a land of ceremony and decorum. Whenever guests visit, it is necessary to make and serve tea to them. Before serving tea, you may ask them for their preferences as to what kind of tea they fancy and serve them the tea in the most appropriate teacups. In the course of serving tea, the host should take careful note of how much water is remaining in the cups and in the kettle. Usually, if the tea is made in a teacup, boiling water should be added after half of the cup has been consumed; and thus the cup is kept filled so that the tea retains the same bouquet and remains pleasantly warm.

Tea culture plays an indispensable role in promoting the international cultural exchange between China and other countries, enriching Chinese cultural life and promoting Chinese spiritual civilization construction.

In conclusion, tea culture is one of the essences of Chinese culture in the history. The spirit of tea permeates the court and society, into the Chinese poetry, painting,

calligraphy, religion, medicine. For thousands of years China has not only accumulated a great deal about tea cultivation, production of material culture, but also accumulated rich spirit of the tea culture, which is unique to China's tea culture.

Thank you!
